Sapa Wilderness Trek & Ethnic Homestays 5 Days

Depart from Hanoi in the evening aboard an overnight train to Lao Cai, located near the Chinese border.

Arrive early in Lao Cai where you’ll meet your guide and driver. Enjoy breakfast at a local restaurant and prepare for your adventure. Your main luggage will be transferred to Topas Ecolodge while you pack essentials for the trek.Drive approximately one hour to Ta Thang village, where your trek begins on a scenic dirt path with panoramic views over lush valleys and mountains. Pass through Nam Ket village, home to the Red Dao people, with an opportunity to visit local homes or a school if in session. The highlight of the day is the trek through bamboo forests and jungle-like terrain to Nam Phang village, where you’ll enjoy a picnic lunch. After lunch, continue trekking along rice terraces and hillside trails, descending to a small stream for a short rest. The final stretch involves a steep climb to Sin Chai village, where you will dine and overnight with a local Red Dao family.

Begin with breakfast in the village before starting an easy trek to Nam Nhiu village. Continue downhill to My Son village for lunch by the river. My Son, inhabited by the Xa Pho ethnic minority, is one of the smallest minority groups in Vietnam. After lunch, trek uphill to Nam Toong village, offering spectacular views of the Muong Bo River valley. In the afternoon, descend to Ban Ho village, the largest village in the area where the Tay minority lives in traditional stilt houses. You will then be transported to Topas Ecolodge for the night.

Enjoy breakfast at the lodge and spend the day relaxing, joining an excursion, or exploring Sapa town using the free shuttle bus. In the late afternoon, take the shuttle bus to Lao Cai for the overnight train back to Hanoi.
